Our Founding Principles
The Socialist Republican Party (SRP) was established on March 13, 1975, during a period of significant political transformation in Kerala. Founded by visionary leaders P.S. Velayudhan and N. Sreenivasan, the party emerged as a response to the need for a political movement that would genuinely represent the interests of the working class, farmers, and marginalized communities.
Our founding principles were rooted in democratic socialism, social justice, and equitable development. The SRP championed land reforms, workers' rights, and educational opportunities for all, setting a new course for progressive politics in Kerala. From its inception, the party rejected sectarian politics and focused on unifying people across caste, religion, and economic status.
50 Years of Progressive Leadership
Founded in 1975 • 10 State Assembly Representations • 2 Lok Sabha Members • 3 Major Social Reforms
Over the decades, the SRP has evolved but remained steadfast to its core values. Our journey has seen both triumphs and challenges, but through it all, we've maintained our commitment to creating a more just and equitable society for all Keralites.
